3 keys to the Utah Jazz's 129-97 win at the Phoenix Suns
PHOENIX — The Utah Jazz started off a four-game road trip strong, dominating the Phoenix Suns for a 129-97 victory Friday night at Talking Stick Resort Arena.
Turning point: After the Suns pulled within 41-33 in the second quarter, the Jazz went on a 12-0 run to go ahead 53-33. Utah outscored Phoenix 34-17 in the second quarter.
The hero: Donovan Mitchell had his second 40-point game of his rookie season, finishing with 40 points on an efficient 14-of-19 shooting from the field. That includes hitting 7-of-9 3-pointers and adding six assists, five rebounds and two steals.
- Utah shot 56.7 percent from the field compared to 41.4 percent for the Suns, and the Jazz made 15 of 29 3-pointers while Phoenix made 9 of 33.
- Utah had 30 assists on 51 made field goals, while the Suns had 19 assists on 36 makes.
- The Jazz had a 51-32 edge in rebounding.
