Morning links: BYU's Fred Warner ranked; Ainge gets dunked on by Aggie-to-be
Lance Zierlein of NFL.com ranked the top 10 college linebackers to watch in 2017, and BYU’s Fred Warner came in at No. 9 on the list.
“Listed at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds, Warner stands out due to the amount of time he spends playing in space against pass-happy offenses on the BYU schedule,” Wrote Zierlein. “He has been a linebacker dating all the way back to his high school days, but he moves more like a big safety out on the field. Warner has soft hands and good instincts in coverage. He’s taken two of his six career interceptions for touchdowns.”
Zierlein then broke down some things that Warner could use some work on, saying, “He’s capable near the line of scrimmage with the speed to pursue across the field, but scouts want to see more toughness. At times, he’ll take inconsistent angles to the ball, which can lead to an arm-tackle attempt.”
How Kyrie Irving could end up in Utah
Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report looked at five trade options that the Cleveland Cavaliers should look at for Kyrie Irving, and the second deal involved the Utah Jazz.
Swartz has the Jazz giving up Rodney Hood, Ricky Rubio, Joe Johnson and 2019 first round pick for Irving and Iman Shumpert.
“After watching Gordon Hayward skip town for Boston, the Jazz need a star to pair with Rudy Gobert,” wrote Swartz. “Irving may not be wild about going to another small-market team, but there’s not a no-trade clause to stop it from happening.”
After breaking down what the move would mean for Cleveland, Swartz finishes by saying, “If Irving doesn’t like playing with James any longer, perhaps he’ll enjoy the company of Joe Ingles better.”
Danny Ainge took to Twitter over the weekend to share a video where he gets dunked on by his son Crew, a recently returned missionary who will be heading up to Logan to play for Utah State.
