Rockmonster Unplugged: More Utah Jazz tributes to come?
If you liked the tribute to the 1997 Jazz on Wednesday night, there could be more to come.
The team says it isn’t necessarily planning a 1998 reunion. For one thing, it was virtually the same team as ’97. Also, a team official says they don’t plan to overdo it. But what could be arriving are nights honoring individual players, including Karl Malone, who didn’t attended Wednesday’s event.
Teams such as the Houston Rockets have had nights honoring numerous former players.
Anyone up for a Pete Chilcutt night?
Whatever happens, Wednesday’s ceremony deserves credit for a couple of things. First, it was short, interesting and sincere. Second, Jeff Hornacek — who rightfully could have begged off, since he’s now a Knick — agreed to be part of the ceremony. He was rewarded with one of the loudest ovations of the night, along with Malone, John Stockton, Frank Layden and Jerry Sloan.
