Utah Jazz: Derrick Favors, Shelvin Mack out, Rudy Gobert questionable for Monday game
There is a bit more clarity on Derrick Favors’ injury status.
The Utah Jazz announced on Sunday that a Saturday MRI revealed Favors has a bone contusion on his left knee. He’ll miss Monday’s crucial contest against the Los Angeles Clippers at Vivint Arena, and he’ll be re-evaluated later in the week.
Favors has struggled with injury throughout the season, as he’s averaging just 9.6 points and 6.2 rebounds in 24.1 minutes per game. He has missed 19 contests altogether.
Also on Sunday, the Jazz announced that Shelvin Mack will miss the game against the Clippers thanks to the left ankle sprain he suffered just over a week ago.
Rudy Gobert, who missed his first game of the season on Saturday at Oklahoma City because of right leg soreness he was experiencing after getting kneed by Houston Rockets star James Harden last Wednesday, is listed as questionable for Monday.
Utah is a game up on Los Angeles for the fourth seed in the Western Conference playoff race and home-court advantage in the first round. The Clippers have taken the first two games of the season series easily, winning 88-75 on Oct. 30 and 88-72 on Feb. 13.
