After a big home win over the Denver Nuggets, The Jazz are back on the road to face the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers are 10-12 on the season after dropping three games on a four-game road trip.
While the Lakers have put up solid offensive numbers, averaging 105.1 points per game, it will be what they do on the defensive end to try to slow down Gordon Hayward and the Jazz that will make all the difference.
Hayward has been on fire as of late, putting up 27.5 points a night, including three straight 30-point performances as the Jazz have rolled off five wins in their last six games.
Charged with trying to keep Hayward in check will be the duo of Luol Deng and Brandon Ingram.
Comment on this story
Deng is a 12-year veteran who has been a steadying force for the young Lakers. He has started all 22 games and is averaging 6.9 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting just 34.3 percent from the floor.
While his offense has been down in his first season with the Lakers, he still plays solid defense thanks to good instincts and high basketball IQ.
As for Ingram, he poses a different matchup for Hayward. Ingram is young, long and athletic, but still needs plenty of seasoning before he finds a more significant role with the Lakers. He has shown flashes of his immense potential, but has yet to put up a breakout game.
Hayward should have the upper hand, no matter who he faces, and another big scoring night will be key as the Jazz try to secure an important road win.
