The Utah Jazz are back at home to square off against the Dallas mavericks. The Mavericks are off to a miserable start with just six wins in 25 tries.
Despite the team’s struggles, free agent acquisition Harrison Barnes is having his most productive offensive season in his young career. He is averaging 20.4 points on 46.5 percent shooting from the floor to go along with 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists.

The task of slowing Barnes will be on the shoulders of Utah’s leading scorer, Gordon Hayward. Hayward is also off to a good start since returning from injury with averages of 22.9 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 19 games.
Barnes has been the catalyst offensively in the Mavericks’ six wins, averaging 25.5 points on 49.6 percent shooting from the field. His numbers drop to 18.8 points on 45.3 percent shooting in 19 losses.
To limit Barnes, Hayward and the Jazz must keep him from getting to the paint. Barnes is nearly unstoppable from in close, shooting 71.1 percent from 0-3 feet, according to Basketball-reference.com.
The Jazz did an excellent job at that when the two teams met in November as they allowed Barnes just one shot in the paint while forcing him to shoot midrange jumpers. That translated into 14 points for Barnes on 6 for 13 shooting and a Jazz 97-81 win.
